The modernization and update of Old Lycoming Township Fire Co. will soon take place.

Sealed bids are invited for construction of a 16 foot by 16 foot office area at the Old Lycoming Township Volunteer Fire Co. at 1600 Dewey Ave.

The bid specifications indicate the project must be completed by June 1, 2023.

The work includes adding metal stud walls, drywall sound insulation, ceiling, flooring, paint, electrical and heating, ventilation and air conditioning. Bids are being accepted individually for construction, electrical and HVAC. Companies may bid on one or all three.

The bid deadline is 4 p.m. today.

This is a prevailing wage, and a performance bond is required, according to Joe Hopple, of the Old Lycoming Township Volunteer Fire Co.

A $1 million grant is being sought to complete work at the station.

Supervisors gave the fire company a letter of support; however, supervisors are not involved in that process, steps or work in the building, said Linda Mazzullo, supervisor and board chair.
