This Pratt & Miller C6RS Just Sold For Unthinkable Amounts of Money

Road-going race cars are always an exciting prospect that gets car enthusiasts foaming at the mouth, regardless of how not-appropriate they are on the road in the real world. These cars can be hard both in terms of the ride, and the sheer amount of effort it takes to drive. However, the stock Corvette has always had a fair bit of everyday ease and usability to it, so perhaps this road-going racer won’t be such a pain. This Pratt & Miller C6RS is one such car, and it is the fourth example ever built of a road-legal homage to the racing team’s C6.R race car that won its class at LeMans in 2007.

Well for starters, this particular model is said to have once belonged to Ken Lingenfelter, the Corvette tuning legend behind the supercharged monsters going back to the late 1990s. However, Mr. Lingenfelter and other owners must have decided it wasn’t the best grocery getter as this C6RS only has 209 miles on the clock, not even close to enough to complete an endurance event at LeMans.

The powerplant is an 8.2-liter V-8 built by Katech Performance that seems to be fitted with a rather lazy tune as it is rated at ’only’ 600 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque, not much for a modern 500 cubic inch V-8. At least it has a 7,000 RPM redline.

There is also a Centerforce high-torque twin-disc clutch connected to an aluminum flywheel, so expect it to be a real pain in traffic. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Tremec T-56 six-speed manual gearbox and a limited-slip differential. Other performance goodies include integrated brake ducts, a ram air intake, a carbon fiber diffuser, a Corsa cat-back exhaust system, functional carbon-fiber front fender louvers, Brembo brakes, and many extra gauges on the inside.

Pair that with carbon fiber body panels and 295/30 front and 345/30 rear Michelin Pilot Sport tires and you have got yourself a party.

The ride may not be the best, but Corvettes have notoriously comfy seats, and these are trimmed in red and black leather. There are also numerous creature comforts such as dual-zone climate control, a Bose sound system with a 6-disc CD changer and AM/FM radio, Dynomat sound-deadening insulation, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat.

Plus, the massive engine will give loads of low-down torque which should make working the clutch a bit easier. But if it is that bad, the journey won’t take long as it shouldn’t be that difficult to get close to the speedo’s max limit of 200 mph.

And once you get to wherever you’re going, you can show off a bit as it is finished in black on black with 18 and 19-inch BBS forged aluminum black chrome wheels to create a sinister look.
